Michal Makarewicz, Multi-Award winning, 20 year Pixar Veteran, Supervisor Skydance Animation, will give lectures and live demo’s on March 7th and 8th at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU), for a Two-Day Animation Masterclass. Please see Curriculum in the section below.

Curriculum

There will be time for Q&A, so please come prepared with your questions.
Start time for the masterclass is 9 am and the class goes until 4. Lunch break is called around 12:00 to 12:30pm. We also call for 15 min break intervals aside from lunch.

About Michal

Michal is an multi-award winning, 20 year Pixar veteran, who has worked on over 16 Feature films and 5 shorts. He has also taken on many roles such as Fix Animator, Animator, Directing Animator, Supervisor, Director, and Head of Animation. These experiences have provided him with a variety of perspectives on the work itself. Michal is currently a Supervising Animator at Skydance studios, working on Brad Birds next feature “RayGunn!”

Michal has been honored with two Annie Awards from ASIFA for “Best Animation in a Feature Production” (Soul and Ratatouille). A VES Nomination for his animation on Helen, in Incredibles 2. And a “Feature Animation” nomination for the 2020 Reuben Award, for his work on Soul. Michal co-founded The Animation Collaborative (AnimC), which provides high-end education in the animation field. And he founded ProRigs, providing high-quality, affordable animation rigs, developed by artists from top studios. Additionally, Michal has been honored to have a scholarship awarded in his name, for the Vancouver Film School (VFS).
